Prerequisites
Before connecting to your Project Zomboid server, ensure you have:
- A valid copy of Project Zomboid on Steam
- Your server's IP address and port (found in your Rivix control panel)
- The server password (if applicable)
Method 1: Connecting via the Server Browser
This is the simplest way to connect to your server:
- Launch Project Zomboid
- Click on "JOIN" from the main menu
- Select the "FAVORITES" tab
- Click "ADD SERVER" and enter your server details:
- Server Name: Any name you want to identify your server
- IP: Your server's IP address (found in your control panel)
- Port: Your server's port (default is 16261)
- Click "SAVE" to add the server to your favorites
- Select your server from the list and click "JOIN"
- Enter the server password when prompted (if applicable)
Method 2: Connecting via Direct IP
If you're having trouble with the server browser, you can connect directly:
- Launch Project Zomboid
- Click on "JOIN" from the main menu
- Select the "DIRECT IP CONNECTION" tab
- Enter your server's IP address and port (format: IP:PORT)
- Enter a name for your character
- Click "CONNECT"
- Enter the server password when prompted (if applicable)
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If you're having trouble connecting to your server, try these solutions:
Server Not Visible in Browser
- Verify the server is running in your Rivix control panel
- Try the Direct IP connection method instead
- Ensure you're running the same version of Project Zomboid as the server
Connection Timeout
- Check if your firewall or antivirus is blocking the connection
- Verify the server IP and port are correct
- Try restarting your game and/or the server
Version Mismatch
- Ensure your game version matches the server version
- Check if the server is running any mods that you need to install
