TROUBLESHOOTING
HumanitZ Connection Issues
Fix common connection problems preventing players from joining your server.
Issue: "Server Not Responding"
Most common cause - server isn't fully started or crashed.
- Check Pterodactyl console - look for "Server initialized" message
- If console shows errors, restart the server
- Wait 2-3 minutes after start before trying to connect
- Verify IP and port are correct (check console header)
Issue: "Wrong Password"
Even if you didn't set a password, HumanitZ can have default issues.
- In File Manager, open
Config/ServerSettings.ini - Find
ServerPassword=line - If blank, add a simple password or delete the line entirely
- Save and restart server
Issue: "Version Mismatch"
Game updated but server didn't auto-update.
- In Pterodactyl, go to Settings tab
- Click Reinstall Server (keeps your saves)
- Wait for update to complete
- Start server and try connecting again
Issue: Steam Server Browser Not Showing Server
Steam query can be slow or fail silently.
- Use Direct Connect instead (Steam → View → Servers doesn't work well for HumanitZ)
- In-game: Join Game → Direct Connect → Enter IP:Port
- If Direct Connect works but browser doesn't, that's normal - keep using Direct Connect
Still Can't Connect?
Test locally first to isolate the issue:
- On the PC running the server, try connecting to 127.0.0.1:7777
- If local works but remote doesn't, it's a network/firewall issue
- Check Windows Firewall on your gaming PC (not the server)
- Some ISPs block game ports - try using a VPN
Known Bug - January 2026
HumanitZ v1.2 has a bug where servers show "0/0" players even when full. This is a display bug only - players can still join normally. The devs have acknowledged this and a fix is expected in v1.3.
